FOM-institute DIFFER - Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research
Mission
FOM Institute for Fundamental Energy Research DIFFER, formerly known as Rijnhuizen, is the Netherlands centre for fundamental energy research. Next to the existing nuclear fusion research DIFFER will start a new research line on solar fuels and aims to grow to a leading institute for energy research with a national coordinating role. DIFFER proceeds from the former FOM-institute Rijnhuizen in Nieuwegein and will move in 2015 to a new laboratory building on the campus of the TU Eindhoven. DIFFER is one of the research laboratories of FOM.
Year of foundation
Rijnhuizen was founded in 1959. The new institute DIFFER started in 2012.

The institute was evaluated in 2011. End of June 2012 the evaluation report will be published with a response from the Governing Board of NWO.
