Thirteen Proposals for CATCH

15 October 2008

NWO received 13 full proposals for the CATCH research programme on September, 18, 2008. In the third round of CATCH, NWO will grant four research proposals. The budget for this round is tree million euros, financed by the NWO divisions Physical Sciences and Humanities and by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW).

Timelines
18 September 2008: Deadline of submission full proposals
14 November  2008: Meeting of the International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB)
05 December  2008: Decision by the steering committee of CATCH

Currently, the assessment of the full proposals is being conducted by independent external reviewers. The applicants will be given the opportunity to react to the (anonymous) written reviews in a rebuttal. During the ISAB meeting on November, 14th, all members will advise and prioritise the full proposals to the steering committee. Based on this advice the steering committee takes the decision of granting the research proposals on December, 5th.

ISAB
The ISAB has recently been extended with Prof. Dr. Chad Gaffield, president of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council in Ottawa, Canada, and Prof. Dr. Kirsten Drotner, Professor of media studies and media culture of the University of Southern Denmark. The board currently exists of nine members each with their expertise in different fields of computer science, cultural heritage and humanities.
