NWO Division for Physics offers researchers on physics the following subsidies and programmes in which they can submit applications. You can also view the website of the FOM foundation (www.fom.nl).

Use of Large-Scale Facilities
Dutch-Belgian Beamline (DUBBLE) open for application
Through this fund researchers from the Netherlands and Flanders can gain access to a synchrotron radiation research facility.
Investments
Gravitation
The aim of the Gravitation Programme is to identify and boost consortia with an excellent scientific research programme that have the potential to make a substantial scientific contribution at the highest international level. It is expected that the researchers involved currently operate at the highest national level and are already active at the highest international level.
Investment Subsidy NWO Large
Subsidies for investments larger than 1,000,000 (GW or MaGW) or 1,500,000 euro (other Divisions).
Investment Subsidy NWO Medium
Cross-divisional applications
NWO has a subsidy for investments with an NWO contribution of between 110,000 and 1,000,000 or 1,500,000 euro (Investment Subsidy NWO Medium).

Aspasia continuous application
Aspasia was launched in October 1999 as a scheme to increase the number of women senior lecturers.
Cooperation China (CSC) - Talent and Training (TTChina)
The aim of the programme is to increase the quality and quantity of PhD research in the Netherlands and to strengthen scientific cooperation with China, by inviting highly talented Chinese PhD candidates to conduct research at selected Dutch graduate schools.

Cooperation Germany - von Humboldt Stiftung (VHS) continuous application
VHS makes two research prizes available each year to enable Dutch senior researchers to conduct their own research for a period of between 4 and 12 months at a German research institute, while NWO offers the same opportunity for two German senior researchers to conduct their own research in the Netherlands.
Doctoral Grant for Teachers
The aim of Doctoral Research for Teachers is to increase the number of teachers holding a doctorate, as this will help to boost the quality of education provided. The programme is open to teachers from primary, secondary, vocational, higher and special education.
Graduate Programme
Inter-university or local graduate schools can apply for a blockgrant of k€ 800 to appoint PhD students. The Graduate Programme aims to strengthen the Dutch PhD system by stimulating the incorporation of elements of the American Graduate School system.
Innovational Research Incentives Scheme
The Innovational Research Incentives Scheme consists of three different ; personal subsidy forms, each of which is designed for a different phase in the ; scientific careers of researchers, whether they only recently took their PhD or ; are already experienced and on the brink of a professorship.

Mosaic
The Mosaic programme is designed to attract more ethnic minority graduates into academic research, in order to promote diversity.
NWO Spinoza Prize
Prize (2.5 million euro) as stimulus to further research.
Rubicon
The aim of the Rubicon programme is to encourage talented researchers who have completed their doctorates in the past year the chance to gain experience at a top research institution outside the Netherlands (maximum of two years).

Cooperation China - Joint Scientific Thematic Research Programme (JSTP)
JSTP aims at stimulating sustainable research collaboration between China and the Netherlands by funding joint research projects and thematic dialogue seminars. The 2009 call for proposals addresses the research topic ‘Integrated Water Management in relation with climate change and sea level rise’.
Dynamics of Patterns
Researchers from various scientific disciplines focused of studying and analysing intrinsically non-linear patterns in space and time are brought together in an interdisciplinary setting.
ERA-NET
ERA-NET (European Research Area Networks) is the policy instrument of the European Commission (EC) for coordinating the national research programmes in Europe. In an ERA-NET there is cooperation and coordination among European research funding agencies.

EUROCORES stands for ‘European Science Foundation Collaborative Research Programmes Scheme.´ A EUROCORE is a grant scheme of the European Science Foundation (ESF). The ESF uses this instrument to promote multinational cooperation in Europa.

Sustainable Hydrogen - Valorisation Grant
Over the next decades, mankind will have to switch from fossile to sustainable energy sources. All scenarios for sustainable energy require a universal and clean energy carrier. Hydrogen is the best option.

Incentive Fund Open Access continuous application
Het doel van dit fonds is bewustwording van Open Access bevorderen en stimuleren van Open Access-publiceren van resultaten uit NWO-projecten.
Seminars and congresses
Centre Européen de Calcul Atomique et Moléculaire
CECAM stimulates the whole field of atomic and molecular calculations, mainly by organising international workshops. The NWO Divisions for Chemical Sciences and Physics participate.
Cooperation Taiwan (NSC) continuous application
NWO has a cooperation agreement with the National Science Council of Taiwan (NSC), which offers Dutch researchers a chance to do research in Taiwan. Taiwanese researchers can visit the Netherlands. The programme also facilitates joint seminars in Taiwan or the Netherlands.
Travel and accomodation grants
Cooperation China (NSFC) continuous application
The NSFC-NWO Programme aims at fostering research collaborations of Sino-Dutch research teams that share high ambitions to work together in sustainable joint research projects by providing multi-annual research funding, and by calling for proposals demonstrating complementary expertise between Dutch and Chinese research teams in areas, in which both The Netherlands and China excel. Thematic Calls for Proposals are published annually, featuring different thematic priorities each year. The 2012 Call for Proposals addresses the research topic 'The Application of Operations Research in Urban Transport'.
Cooperation Japan (JSPS) continuous application
NWO has a cooperation agreement with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), which provides various opportunities for doing research in Japan.
Cooperation South Korea (NRF-KOSEF) continuous application
NWO has a cooperation agreement with the Korea Science and Engineering Foundation (KOSEF), which offers Dutch researchers a chance to perform research in South Korea. In case of a jointly organised seminar applications can be submitted for a contribution towards the costs.
Visitors Travel Grant continuous application
With this grant foreign visitors can stay in the Netherlands.
