Investment Subsidy NWO Medium

Subsidy programme for medium-sized investments in scientific apparatus in the Chemical Sciences Division, in conformity with the general programme Investment Subsidy NWO Medium.

Who can apply

The following knowledge institutions may submit proposals:

• a. Dutch universities;
• b. NWO institutes (incl. the Dutch-Belgian Beamline at ESRF in Grenoble);
• c. KNAW institutes;
• d. academic libraries;
• e. Netherlands Cancer Institute;
• f. Max Planck Institute for psycholinguistics in Nijmegen.

Due to the agreements between NWO and KNAW, the KNAW institutes may not submit proposals for Investment Subsidy NWO Medium.

What can be applied for

Subsidy for the purchase of scientific apparatus in the Chemical Sciences with a contribution from NWO between 110,000 and 1,500,000 euro (incl. VAT). A minimal contribution of 25 per cent is expected from the applicant.

• Closing date for submitting applications was 31 August 2011, 17:00 hrs

Extra Information

Investments in apparatus with a contribution of at least 1,500,000 euro from NWO are covered by the programme Investment Subsidy NWO Large. The first (biannual) closing date for Investment Subsidy NWO Large is 1 November 2011.

Criteria

The selection criteria are extensively described in the brochure Investment Subsidy NWO Medium (see under Documentation). The character of the apparatus, combined with the quality of the research to be carried out, plays a decisive role in the selection of applications. Also of importance are the social and national relevance and financial and technical criteria.

Procedure

The Board of the NWO division that is accountable for a proposal within the Investment Subsidy NWO Medium programme is also responsible for the selection of proposals. The NWO division works acoording to a procedure where subsequently external referees are consulted, applicants are offered rebuttal and an evaluation committee offers a ranking advise to the Board. The final decision on granting of the proposal will be made by the Board.

Budget

The budget of the NWO Division for Chemical Sciences for the 2011-2012 round is approximately 1,400,000 euro.
