Evaluation, conclusions and recommendations Mathematics clusters 2005-2010

This report on the evaluation of the mathematics clusters in the Netherlands is composed by a panel of four European mathematicians chaired by Professor Frank van der Duyn Schouten. The mathematics clusters reviewed in this report are DIAMANT, NDNS+ and GQT; the review period is 2005-2010. The future plans of these three clusters and the recently started cluster STAR were reviewed as well.
The committee strongly advises the mathematical research community, NWO and the Dutch universities involved to continue the cluster approach in mathematical research in the Netherlands. Mathematical clusters provide a most effective and efficient tool to enable the Dutch mathematical community to play a substantial and continuing role on the international scientific scene.
