The division Social Sciences of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) finances the following programmes on educational research:

BOPO
The Programme Committee Policy-oriented Research Primary Education (BOPO) focuses on a number of policy areas in primary education of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, with the objective of evaluating this policy.

PROO
The Dutch Programme Council for Educational Research (PROO) focuses on fundamental and strategic research, application-oriented (mid-) long-term research, international comparative research and evaluative research.
Educational Research Programme 2008-2011

COOL^5-18
Another core area of PROO is cohort research. PROO finances, by government order, COOL^5-18:  a longitudinal datacollection in primary, secondary and senior secondary vocational education, performed by a consortium consisting of Cito, GION, ITS and the SCO Kohnstamm Institute in cooperation with the CBS.
