CLS2008 revolves around the cooperation of (bio)informaticians, (bio)mathematicians and life scientists. The research theme is biological networks. The research should contribute to the integration of data-based (bio)informatics research with dynamic models. This means the development of models with which data from a biological network can be analysed, so that the model describes the properties of the network at various temporal and spatial scales. This results in:
- new insights into biological networks;
- increased biological understanding;
- bridging of scales.
Who can apply
Researchers from Dutch universities, NWO and KNAW institutes on behalf of a team of researchers from one or more research institutes. And the three scientific disciplines (bio)mathematics, (bio)informatics and life sciences are represented in the team.
What can be applied for
See the call for proposals.

Extra Information
Important! Due to the conditions under which the funding bodies can make the budget available, applications that are funded in this round must have started within six months of the funding being awarded. The subsidy will be withdrawn from any projects that have not started by that time. All researchers in the project must start their activities in accordance with the project plan. Applicants are therefore advised not to submit research proposals for subjects for which it is known in advance that it will be difficult to find researchers. Conversely, applicants are encouraged to appoint senior researchers such as postdocs, assistant professors or associate professors.
Criteria
For the exact conditions, please see the programme text or the current Call for Proposals. These can be downloaded via a link on this page.
Procedure
Information about the procedure is available from the current Call for Proposals, which can be downloaded via a link on this page.
Budget
The financiers have made a budget of 4.82 million euros available for this programme. This will be used to finance two competitive rounds. For both the round in 2007 and the round in 2008, five subsidies of 460,000 euro each are available.
Financiers
NWO Governing Board, Division for Physical Sciences (EW), Netherlands Bioinformatics Centre (NBIC), the National Computer Facilities Foundation (NCF), Netherlands Genomics Initiative (NGI).
