NWO considers a good balance between mathematical and informatics aspects in the research proposals to be an important advantage. The Networks programme aims to attain this balance. It is aimed at the analysis and direction of networks in the following areas of network-oriented research:
- computer and communication networks;
- networks in logistical applications;
- networks in supporting decision-making.
Scientific research into the mathematical and informatics aspects in these areas is to be promoted in tandem.

What can be applied for
Subsidy is available for a 4-year project of at least 2 FTE per year, for instance 2 research trainees or 1 research trainee and 1 postdoctoral. Subsidy is also available for active guest researchers who participate for 1 or 2 months.
When can be applied
Applications can nolonger be submitted; there will be no new subsidy round. The programme runs from 2001 to 2006.
