The CoCooN programme (Conflict and Cooperation over Natural Resources in Developing Countries) aims to contribute to sustainable development, poverty reduction and the realisation of the MDGs by adding to evidence-based policy development, interventions and practices in the field of conflict and cooperation on natural resources, and by contributing to adequately manage, resolve and learn from conflicts. Integrated knowledge, research and innovation projects (IPs) are to be carried out by consortia scientific and non-scientific partners from both the South and North.
In order to substantiate and enlarge networks and to enhance the establishment of consortia, responsible for initiating and governing Integrated Projects, we invite applicants to apply for participating at a matchmaking meeting to be organised in September 2009 in:
- Addis Ababa: for Africa and the Middle East
- Bogota: for South and Central America
- Hanoi: for Asia and Eastern Europe
Who can apply
Applicants are committed to join a consortium, responsible for the joint formulation and submitting of a knowledge, research and innovation Integrated Project application.
Participants from all over the world, from South and North and being researchers or interested people from governmental or CSO organisations, NGO’s or private partners are invited to participate. A maximum of one representative per organisation (research group, NGO, company, institution) is eligible for participation at one of the three regional meetings.
What can be applied for
Selected applicants will be hosted by the organising organisation during the matchmaking meetings. Furthermore, a contribution with a maximum of € 2,000 in the expenses of travel can be applied for.
When can be applied
Closing date for submitting applications was 7 August 2009.
Criteria
Applicants are committed to join a consortium, responsible for the joint formulation and submitting of a knowledge, research and innovation Integrated Project application.
a. Added value in offer to or demand from the CoCooN programme (e.g. urgency or originality of issues at stake, ‘unusual’ disciplines, specific skills, track record)
b. A balanced composition of the participants groups (geographic coverage both form North and South, variety of stakeholders groups, coverage of the three themes)
c. Potential of the contribution to/role in the matchmaking meetings
Procedure
Decisions on the applications for participation and reimbursement of travel costs will be taken by the Steering Committee approximately three weeks after the deadline.
Committees
Decision will be taken by the Steering Committee.
