Objective

The thematic programme Brain & Cognition: an Integrated Approach strongly promotes integrative brain and cognition research. Within this framework, four specific goals are set: 

  • Stimulation of excellent research;
  • Formation of (inter)national interdisciplinary networks; 
  • Interdisciplinary education of high-potential junior investigators;
  • Contribution to new insights into neural substrates of human cognition.

Who can apply

Senior scientists holding a doctor’s degree and employed by a Dutch university or other research institute recognized by NWO (as specified in the Regeling subsidieverlening NWO (2007) may apply.

In this programme, three funding instruments are available, in which funding can be obtained based on open competition:

When can be applied

  • Joint-Forces Network Grants – The deadline for submitting applications was on 2 September 2008. Submission is no longer possible.
  • Interdisciplinary Education – From 11 November 2008, applications can be submitted continuously until the end of the programme; there are no deadlines. The Call will be closed at an earlier stage if the available budget is exhausted. More information about the Call for Interdisciplinary Education is available on the subsidy page.
  • Programmes for Excellence – Only those who submitted a preliminary proposal may submit a full proposal Call for Programmes for Excellence (for invited researchers only).
