Evaluating Research in Context

Pilot study VU Amsterdam Law has started

19 September 2008

The VU University Amsterdam needs a method to more accurately assess research at the Faculty of Law. This discipline, united in the Jurisprudence Disciplinary Consultative Body has already carried out a lot of work into ways of assessing the research more accurately. Following on from this, ERiC has now started a pilot to develop criteria and indicators which do justice to the broad objectives of the research. This will allow the departments that focus on Dutch legal practice to be assessed more fairly in national and international research evaluations.
VU Amsterdam has approached all law faculties in the Netherlands and most have agreed to cooperate with the pilot study. ERiC shall now assess the research at a number of law faculties, and it shall publish an advisory report about quality assurance in law research.
