Objective
Climate Variability is an NWO programme aimed at fundamental research in the field of climate problems. The programme is a continuation of a series of previous NWO programmes on this theme. At the end of 2003 an earlier Call for Proposals in this programme was issued. The present Call, issued jointly by the Divisions for Earth and Life Sciences and Physical Sciences, also aims to support and promote multidisciplinary research at the interface of mathematics and/or informatics and climate science.

Application

Who can apply

Researchers affiliated with Dutch research institutions, in accordance with NWO Subsidy Guidelines and the Explanatory Comments on the 2005 application.

What can be applied for

  • Staff costs: as a rule 1 FTE can be applied for (PhD student: 4 years, postdoc: maximum of 3 years). In collaborative projects a maximum of 2 FTE can be applied for per proposal. The conditions can be found in the Call for Proposals under Documentation.
  • Material costs are only refundable if they are project-specific and are not included in the standard facilities of the institution.
  • Computing time on the national supercomputers must be applied for separately at NWO-NCF (continuously).

When can be applied

Applications were to be submitted until 1 June 2005 at the latest.
